5th February, our own composition.

On tuesday once we all had arrived we were put into our previous groups from the past 2/3 weeks. We had then been told to name a colour, a event etc and at the end use our answers as lyrical themes. We were also told that today we would be composing our own songs and that we had to also write lyrics to our song. After being given this task we all went to book a room and equipment which would be needed. Due to the absence of Kristian we had Dan play bass and do vocals and to make it easier for him we had Archie do some vocals as well. This resulted with 3 vocalists. We had then began writing our song by having Archie come up with a verse on the guitar. Once we got that down we had moved onto the chorus where Archie ahd improvised another part and so the whole process went quite smoothly having it all be improvised and not making it too complex. Then we decided to add a bridge but we realised that it didn't fit with the chorus and so instead of wasting time we just removed the bridge and had Archie improvise a solo on guitar. All the lyrics were written by Dan, Archie and Yasmin which as far as I know where also improvised.

Moving onto the actual performance, we were all pretty confident with our parts as they weren't too complex and the structure was pretty basic. Our confidence also came from the fact that we had rehearsed the song quite well and we were all prepared to play it live. During the performance there had been little mistakes made but overall as the whole band we were pretty tight. The mistakes were only noticeable by people who had made them and so we didn't worry too much as we knew that it is extremely difficult to play a song perfectly without even 1 mistake. A area for improvement would be for us to improve our stage presence as the visual performance wasn't special in any way or form and most probably the performance had got quite boring coming to the end as we didn't move around too much.
