This week Ieuan, Kris, Wilf and me managed to practice Paranoid once again on Tuesday in the performance space. Before this even happened me and Ieuan had been practising War Pigs in the mac room for the whole morning. Once we have rehearsed Paranoid we all came to the conclusion that we won't do War Pigs due to the fact that it is a long song (7 minutes long) and even if we shortened it it wouldn't of had sense as we don't even have a vocalist yet and so we prefered to just focus on Paranoid and play that to the best of our ability and not worry about War Pigs. This is as the song would be very boring without a vocalist and also it may disappoint people if we just played the half of the song, this would have created more of a negative opinion about our performance and so we decided to just stick with Paranoid as we knew the whole song. During our practise of Paranoid Oz, our tutor, had noticed that I was downpicking the main riff and that made me fall a little out of time so at lunchtime I decided to practise the riff by picking alternatively as then I would pick faster with less effort. By the end of lunchtime I was pretty confident with my picking. Then came our performance for the day. I persoanlly think that it could have gone better, Ieuan had also agreed with me on this. This is because the song wasnt that fresh in or minds and so it was hard for us to stick together when playing our parts, from time to time we had fallen out of time but it wasn't too bad overall. In conclusion I would say that it could have gone better and that there is area for improvement but I don't feel that we should be embarrassed of our performance as it could have gone a lot worse. Also while performing I tried to make more eye contact with the audience and move around a little more on stage so that it would have been much more interesting for the audience to watch.
Our next task is to find a vocalist so that we could rehearse the song on Tuesday and on the day of the event. We are planning to ask Ian, our music theory teacher, to do the vocals so that we could rehearse Paranoid with him on Tuesday and on the day of the final event.
