Preparation for the actual event

Updated: Nov 19, 2018

For the event which takes place in December my target audience will be the older generation such as parents as many of them have probably grew up when Black Sabbath had got famous and so they can probably relate to the band in a way whereas the younger generation most probably won't be able to relate to Black Sabbath. The band now is not as known as it used to be in the past which is as their music is quite dark meaning that adults also are more likely to understand the message in the songs whereas children most probably won't know what the songs are about and most probably won't like them as they won't find them fun. This is because children now are mainly exposed to popular music which tends to be very happy and fun for them.

I also feel that people will want to watch our part of the show as I am pretty sure we will stand out from the others and we will do something different making us very unique, this is because I feel that most people will want to do popular, mainstream music which is also widely accessible whereas Black Sabbath for example isn't a band that one might hear on the radio which I feel will also attract many people. Another reason is that Black Sabbath used to be very famous in the past and so hopefully the elders will be able to appreciate the music as they most probably are familiar with the music and there is also a good chance that they have grown up on such music. Lastly a reason for the audience to want to watch us is that the music may be new to some people in the audience and so they may want to give the music a proper listen as it could be something that they have never heard before.

Now moving onto issues that we may face during the show are that we will most probably need to change the settings on the amplifiers to distortion and so in order for us not to waste time I will for example bring along my distortion pedal so that I can plug that straight into the amplifier and not mess around with the tonal options. This is because it would not only would take up time but it could also make it difficult for the sound engineer to adapt the sound we want and to make us sound good for the audience. Another problem that may occur is that we may forget some parts and so we will make sure that we rehearse on the day before the event and on the day of the event to make sure that everyone knows their parts and if they struggle with anything they will still have some time to tighten up their playing. In order to avoid this we will practice enough before the event so that we will all feel confident with performing in front of an audience. Lastly a problem that may occur is that we might have someone be ill or just absent on the day of the event and so we will try to eliminate this possibility by taking more care of ourselves. This is as especially in winter it is easy to get ill whereas if it's just a cold and nothing serious we will still try and get the person in to perform. Although if they absolutely cannot come in then that is why we will have one other member learn the parts on the bass or the guitar as these parts are probably the most difficult in the song so then we would just replace the person that is not in as it is very unlikely for two people who know the parts on bass for example to not be in. A person that can learn the bass or guitar parts can for example be the vocalist so then they would be able to sing and play at the same time. Other than this I don't think that any other problems may occur.
